A trip to the Grand Canyon is in the works for many families. After several years of scrimping and struggling just to meet their bills, more and more households are able to afford vacations again, many for the first time in years. They will be relieved to discover that they can find some great deals on vacations to the Grand Canyon.
Transportation is an issue for anyone visiting the Canyon. Flying to Las Vegas, Phoenix, or Flagstaff are options. The larger the airport, the easier it will be to find discount airfares. Then it is a matter of finding a good deal on a car rental or signing up for a tour that will transport them directly to the Canyon. Tours may seem a bit pricey, but since they usually include all transportation costs, entrance fees, and parking fees, they may be considerably cheaper on a cost per person basis.
Those who are planning to stay at the Canyon for several days or a week will need to seek out deals at Tusayan hotels to save money. As an alternative they may want to consider camping at the Grand Canyon. In that case they will need to determine how to acquire camping gear, which can be rented nearby if it isn’t possible to bring it along on the trip.
Those that want to save the most money will want to consider visiting the Canyon during the off-season. In addition to lower prices, they will find the Canyon to be less crowded. They will also get to experience a different view of the area than summer visitors see.
It sounds like a reasonable question — who needs to purchase visitor health insurance for trips abroad? The problem is that it’s not a matter of listing out categories of people who should or shouldn’t get insurance. Everyone traveling to a foreign country needs some type of health insurance.
Of course, not everyone bothers to get it. As a result they may find themselves stranded in a foreign country with an injury that they can’t afford to get treated. Or they lose a vital prescription and they don’t have the means to get it replaced. What’s even worse is suffering from a severe injury or illness and being stranded in a far away land because there is no money for appropriate medical transport to get them back home.
Those are just a few of the situations in which visitor health insurance pays off. For individuals who are on longer visits, such as international students, missionaries, or professionals working overseas on long assignments, health coverage is even more important. They need to be able to have regular preventative check ups, including dental cleanings. They may need maternity services or treatment for preexisting conditions. Some even need mental health care. Without health insurance, these services can be difficult or even impossible to arrange, depending on the medical system of a given country. The costs of paying for medical care out of pocket can quickly exceed the financial means of many people, making insurance essential.
To walk the Las Vegas strip on any night or day for that matter, there is a sense of ‘going with the flow’ rather than sauntering down the Boulevard. Even though Las Vegas gaming revenues are off due to the economy, according to the Las Vegas hotels , the visitor count is up, so sidewalks are crowded with mostly fun loving people from all around the world.
Most visitors are in town for a good time, an escape from reality, a shot to win it big on the slots or at one of the tables, gourmet food, the never ending free drinks (if you’re gambling), and the fantastic shows. However, there are a small number of strip patrons who are working a scam, chasing ill-gotten gains and avoiding the police at all costs. Luckily, for the fun-loving tourists, the Las Vegas Metro Police patrol the famous strip in their cars, on motorcycles, motorbikes, bicycles, and on horseback. Meaning good times for the visitors and bad-luck for the criminals as the police insure everyone’s safety and having a great time.
Don’t forget your camera while walking the strip, you’ll be guaranteed that there will be something to see and to photograph. Photos that will be great to post on your blog or a social network. Plus, while you’re people watching, remember to listen for all the many different languages spoken on the Las Vegas strip, it’s truly a crossroad and an international hub for the world’s people.

Most cities are known not for the city itself, but for certain historic and/or iconic neighborhoods. Imagine New York without Harlem and the five boroughs or Los Angeles without Hollywood, Santa Monica, and East LA. Singapore is both a city and a country in one, but it has its own distinct neighborhoods and districts, each with its own character, food, and culture.
Orchard Road draws countless tourists every year with its seemingly endless miles of shopping malls and centers. The Riverside Civic District also attracts visitors to its many theaters, museums, and colonial monuments as well as restaurants clubs and bars. Combine these with a section of Chinatown and you get what is commonly referred to as the CBD or Central Business District. Marina Bay is the newest district and consists mostly of a casino complex with the same name. Most of the best hotels in Singapore will be found in these areas.
Chinatown is only one of the neighborhoods known for its connection to the food and heritage of a specific settler demographic. Little India is self-explanatory while Bugis and Kampong Glam forms the old Malay district of the city, though it largely a shopping area today. Burmese temples and budget accomnodations are the highlights of Balestier, Novena, Toa Payoh and Newton which are still within easy distance of the center of the city.
Further out are the Woodlands (North) and Jurong (West) which consist of residential and industrial neighborhoods surrounding the city. The East Coast is predominantly residential, but includes the Changi Airport and a multitude of beaches and famous restaurants. Here is where you’ll find Geyland Serai, the original home of the Malays of Singapore. Sentosa is a separate island that used to be a military fort. Today it is a resort, featuring gambling, amusement parks, and other entertainments.
Welcome to the Alcatraz of Cape Town. Robben Island may not have had the famous mafia or mob prisoners but it does have a strong place in history. The island of the coast of Cape Town was a place of normal life thousands of year ago. That all changed when the Dutch came along.
Robben Island became an island of banishment and isolation in the late 1600 and remained that way through parts of the 20 century. It did have famous leaders and activists inside its walls including Nelson Mandela, who was the first democratic President of South Africa.
Because of its isolation from the main land, it was also chosen as a defence station for a time during WWII and then it became a hospital for serious contagious diseases as well as mental heath patients.
Today, the island is now a place where the visitors staying in the hotels of Cape Town come and spend a few hours learning some of the history of not only the city and country but also the fight of freedom and human rights.
This is a well put together museum filled with the story between those who were for and against apartheid. There are many programs for people of all ages to attend and learn about the struggle. A true must see when in the area.

The Salmon is rubbed with a spicy sweet concoction similar to a Jamaican jerk spice, and the Chinese beans were roasted in a fermented black bean paste.
