Customer Service Training Should be Company-wide

Posted on 24th August 2010 by Kevin in Business - Tags:

Any company that is serious about doing business and staying in business needs to send all employees to a customer service training center, including executives, warehouse personnel, delivery drivers, and employees who don’t deal with customers. Companies who do not understand how important it is for every single member of the organization to have a solid understanding of customer service, is a company that doesn’t want to stay in business for long.

It is absolutely essential for all employees to have the skills, knowledge and motivation to provide excellent service, which can affect the bottom line of any company for good or for bad. There are several reasons why customer service training needs to be company-wide.

First, knowing that great customer service is the only way to keep customers and gain new ones, but actually knowing how to implement great customer service is a skill that needs to be demonstrated and practiced. Second, all employees need to have the same customer service ‘speak’ , this way there are no miscommunications when it comes to the entire organization understanding of a customer related issue. Third, company-wide organizational development such as customer service training, makes for an organizational cohesiveness unequaled in business, creating a formidable company that other companies will be hard pressed to compete with.

Bottom line, customer service training for every single member of the organization demonstrates to all that customers matter.

The Blinds in the Window

If the eye is the window to the soul, then this says a lot about the function of windows on a house. They do seem to act as the soul of the house, and there’s something very iconic when one sees lights in the window of one’s own home after a long time away. There are ways of making the magic appearance even more special, even alluring. Window treatments have a way of unifying the spirit of a house, bringing all the elements together, and places like Next Day Blinds offer ways of making the spirit shine.

It can be likened to the perfect pair of glasses, or the exact shade of eyeshadow that can bring out the touches of color that one wants to emphasize. Emphasis really is the key to design, and with windows, it’s a matter of selecting the physical traits that already have great appeal. For a simple change that’s visible the next day, blinds can alter the appearance in a radical way. Like with eyeshadow, some guests and family members might not even notice quite what the change is, but will notice a difference. Others, who’ve grown accustomed to noticing design elements, will no doubt recognize right away the remarkable changes at hand.

Albany Tulips Honor the Dutch

Albany New York Tulip Festival , which is held every year on Mother’s Day weekend at Washington Park, celebrates the roots of the oldest Dutch settlement in the United States.

Over 400 years ago, Henry Hudson discovered the area on his 1609 trip across the Atlantic Ocean. The Dutch settled the area shortly after his discovery, which is why today the Albany New York Tulip Festival is a celebration of the rich history of the Dutch. The festival brings in people from all around the world who treasure the beauty of the tulips. During the week of the Tulip Festival, all the hotels Albany has to accommodate the festival visitors fill up and the city comes alive with many other activities to keep the tourists busy.

The Tulip Festival was first celebrated by proclamation of Albany’s Mayor Erastus Coming in 1948, and has been an annual tradition over Mother’s Day weekend for more than 60 years. The festival has grown exponentially every year since its inception. Currently, there are more than 140 varieties of tulips in beautifully maintained flowerbeds located in the Olmstead-influenced, 100 year old Washington Park. All the tulips are labeled with the names of each tulip variety.

The Albany New York Tulip Festival begins at noon on Friday with a traditional street scrubbing on State Street; this ritual keeps alive an old Dutch tradition of cleaning the streets before any special event. Afterwards, the Tulip Queen luncheon that honors the young women nominated for Tulip Queen and her court happens Friday afternoon. Friday evening, there is music in the park. On Saturday there is the coronation of the Tulip Queen followed by the Royal Tulip Ball that night.

Robben Island off of Cape Town

Welcome to the Alcatraz of Cape Town. Robben Island may not have had the famous mafia or mob prisoners but it does have a strong place in history. The island of the coast of Cape Town was a place of normal life thousands of year ago. That all changed when the Dutch came along.

Robben Island became an island of banishment and isolation in the late 1600 and remained that way through parts of the 20 century. It did have famous leaders and activists inside its walls including Nelson Mandela, who was the first democratic President of South Africa.

Because of its isolation from the main land, it was also chosen as a defence station for a time during WWII and then it became a hospital for serious contagious diseases as well as mental heath patients.

Today, the island is now a place where the visitors staying in the hotels of Cape Town come and spend a few hours learning some of the history of not only the city and country but also the fight of freedom and human rights.

This is a well put together museum filled with the story between those who were for and against apartheid. There are many programs for people of all ages to attend and learn about the struggle. A true must see when in the area.
